A Poem for August - Malaysian Calendar

We, Malaysians,
Count in Malaysian calendars.
Some start counting from Melaka;
Some count Merdeka;
Some count Money;
Some count Meal.

We, Malaysians,
Count in Malaysian calendars.
Some discount the Majority vote,
We still have Melayu;
Meritage;
And Mob?

We, Malaysians,
Count in Malaysian calendars.
Not by 52 weeks,
Not by 365 days.
We count Bersih 1, 2, 3,
and 4 centuries of mandi kerbau.

It was new year's eve.
I wish you, my fellow Malaysians,
A meaningful new year.
